I guess we don't belong.
Sometimes not doing things the normal way causes hassles. Now we expected that raising animals and living in the woods the way we do might cause a few eyebrows to be raised. What we didn't consider is some of the practical things that don't work well when you are not within the "normal" range. Things like financing a house. Apparently mortgage companies don't really consider you if you are building a non traditional home like the earth bermed we are dreaming of. And do you think we'll be able to find insurance? I imagine calling for home insurance quotes and when they ask what type our of structure our home is, and I reply, "dirt" that they might hang up the phone right then and there. Though we are very far from self sufficient, I guess that the world just isn't geared to even those who are partially self sufficient.
